The Walk
Canberra's biggest annual community walk
Our major community event held annually is the Gift of Life Walk, sponsored by the Government’s Organ and Tissue Authority and the ACT Government.
It was held for the 15th time in 2021 and is now a major Canberra event. The Walk traditionally attracts thousands of participants from a range of backgrounds, walking across the bridges and around Lake Burley Griffin, early on a summer’s morning, wearing our free t-shirts and hats and afterwards enjoying a BBQ breakfast.

In 2021 our Walk went virtual and, for the first time, participants from across Australia organised their own walks, took photos and uploaded images and videos to our website and social media.
In 2023, we are aiming for a greater reach nationally especially among schools, sporting clubs and community groups. Stay up to date for announcements as we'll be launching registrations very soon.
The Walk attracts prominent participation as well as wide media coverage. We encourage you to share your support. Most importantly register to be an organ and tissue donor and have the discussion with your family.
