Gift of Life Does City2Surf in 2010

Join in the fun and do some community service at the same time by registering as a runner or walker in the Gift of Life Team which is participating in the Sydney City2Surf fun run.  It is held on 8 August 2010 in Sydney and runs from the centre of the City to Bondi Beach.  This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the run.

Lyndell Kazar has kindly registered Gift of Life's team .  We will proudly supply you with a sought after Gift of Life singlet or shirt as well as other merchandise which supports raising organ and tissue donor awareness.  Go to the City2Surf website, scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter.  Find the "join an existing team" button and search for Gift of Life Inc.  Our password is GOLI.

It's only 14km - a doddle for those in this region who are used to running much longer distances.  Heartbreak Hill may challenge some, but there will be some group training in Canberra to get our team into top shape.

Please contact Lyndell for more information.

Terry Connolly

Justice Terry Connolly died suddenly in the early morning of 25 September 2007 on Red Hill, having cycled to the top as part of his exercise routine.  He was a Supreme Court Judge since 2003, and Master since 1996.  Terry was the Member for Molonglo in 1990-1995 and served as the ACT Attorney-General and Minister in various portfolios, including Health.  He and his family have lived in Canberra for many years and he was a popular Canberran.

More importantly, Terry was a husband, father, son and, following his death, a tissue donor.

Terry’s wife, Dr Helen Watchirs, says that she and Terry had discussed their wishes in relation to organ donation.  This meant that at the dreadful time of death, she was clear on his wishes.  Terry’s donation to the improvement of other lives has given Helen and his daughters a sense of contribution, and has helped make up for a life cut short.
